Pete Thomas and the organizers of the NC Flex State Benefits Conference

The Season 2 At-Home Winner of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” kicks off a series of wellness events in North Carolina with an invigorating message of health and wellness.

Ann Arbor, MI— It may have been an unseasonably cold week in North Carolina, but Pete Thomas, the Season 2 At-Home Winner of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” quickly warmed things up as he took the stage four consecutive days to kick off Wellness Programs across the capital city of Raleigh, March 29 – April 1, 2011.

Pete’s inspirational message reached North Carolinians from across the state as he address a gathering of over 250 Human Resource professionals at the NC Flex State Benefits Conference on Tuesday and Wednesday, kicked-off a Wellness Program at the prestigious Law Firm of Wyrick, Robbins, Yates and Ponton on Thursday, and wrapped up his mini-tour at Builder’s Mutual Insurance Company on Friday.

“Absolutely outstanding!” were the words expressed by Jimmy Yates, Managing Partner at the Law firm of Wyrick, Robbins, Yates and Ponton.  “This was our kick-off event and it exceeded our wildest expectations.  There’s no question that Pete mesmerized the audience,” Yates stated.

During his presentation Pete communicated the benefits of the Firm’s new initiatives and encouraged the audience of 130 Lawyers and support staff to each make themselves a priority and get involved for the benefit of their individual health and wellness goals.   “It was a tough audience of lawyers and professional staff, and I think they were absolutely captivated by Pete.  He had great humor, great stories…it was interactive—a smashing success!” Yates concluded.

Debbie Zeivis, the Human Resources and Wellness Manager at Wyrick Robbins concurred with Yate’s assessment. “Pete nailed it! I have never seen this audience as lively as they were. Pete reinforced the goals as though he and Jimmy had worked on this for quite some time…”

Pani Tademeti, the Human Resources Manager for the state of North Carolina State Personnel Department, first heard Pete Thomas speak at the Corporate Wellness Conference in Los Angeles California in 2010.  Tademeti knew then that Pete’s message would be good for the State of North Carolina.  Tademeti indicated that maintaining a healthy workforce is now a major issue for the state, and part of the Governor’s agenda.  And with health care costs constantly rising, prevention is the best solution.   “I wanted to bring in someone who had really done it— someone who had achieved health and wellness and was successful at keeping the weight off.”

The Annual State Benefits Conference that Tademeti oversees is a voluntary two-day conference of HR professionals from every State department— and with dwindling state budgets many of the attendees pay their own way. Tademeti wanted to offer something special that would truly motivate them once they got there.  “The first day, we could see the interaction with Pete and the audience— the level of enthusiasm.  They were getting motivated.  We could sense it. Then all of them came back the second day and listened.  Even if we had continued the whole day with Pete, people would have stayed,” Tademeti asserts.  Tademeti added that in the evaluations, people personally thanked the coordinators for the providing the inspiration they needed to go back and inspire employees in their respective departments.

Twyla Hutchins, a Medical Management Officer with Hill, Chesson & Woody Benefit Services Company, introduced Wyrick, Robbins and Builder’s Mutual Insurance to Pete Thomas— and she is glad she did.  “I had two clients looking to kick off wellness programs and they were looking for an exceptional motivational speaker.  Immediately I thought of Pete.  It worked out great!  Pete connects well with any audience—from the CEO down to every level of employee.  He is engaging, fun, truly personable and educational.  There was real meat to the presentation, not just motivation.  There was information and education that people can learn to build healthy habits in their own lives, and apply these principles so they too can become healthier and happier individuals going forward.”
